Synopsis

Fire Country is a landmark series hosted by world cultural fire expert, Victor Steffensen as he shares First Nations fire knowledge and wisdom across Australia and beyond to address urgent global challenges in the face of destructive wildfires.

Fire Country follows the origin story of fire:

  • the history of First Nations fire knowledge;
  • why fire is so important socially;
  • how First Nations fire practices can improve modern fire management and our economy;
  • real case studies based on the science categories of traditional knowledge;
  • detailed assessments of the declining land problems and accurate intergenerational solutions in healing our Country.

On a mission to change the global perception of fearing fire in contemporary culture, Victor Steffensen traverses the country from Cape York, to Northern Territory to Western Sydney and overseas working with communities to rekindle ancient fire knowledge back to Country.

In doing so, Fire Country emerges as a catalyst for global change inspiring a collective and inclusive effort to reshape the relationship between fire, Country and humanity.
